If we have integrated with your student SSO, your students will be able to log in and manage this information (except for approving the hours! The teacher or administrator can do that, of course).

In this article, you'll learn how students can:

  • record WBL timesheets
  • edit or remove previously entered WBL submissions
  • upload training agreements
  • upload skills checklists
  • view their record of WBL teacher visits

Students will start by clicking the Work-based Learning Log on the left menu in their Eduthings account.

Then students will select the action they wish from the top menu.

Log Entries

In the Log Entries section the student will be able to see any existing entries they have previously submitted or enter a new time log for either work hours, internship hours, or skills hours.

  • If a mistake was made or if additional information needs added to an entry, students can click on the pencil icon on the far right side of the list of entries.
  • However, if the entire entry needs to be deleted, students can click on the trash can icon.

Students will click on the Log New Entry button to submit a new entry.

Next, students will see the New WBL Log Entry form they need to fill out.

  • First, the course the hours are being logged for needs selected from the drop-down.
  • Then students need to enter the time period the hours or skills were earned.
  • If the entry is for a timesheet log where a wage was earned, then the total number of hours work and the hourly wage will need to be filled in.
  • If the entry is for an internship only the hours worked will need to be completed.  If the submission is only for skills verification then both the hours earned and the wage can remain blank.
  • All students will utilize the upload a file tool to document the records for the submission.  It is important to upload documentation as teachers will not be able to approve hours without documentation.

Once all the information is added, make sure to click the green Save button at the lower right.

Training Plans

Training plans, pre-apprenticeship agreements, or internship contracts are all items that can be uploaded into the Training Plans section of the student's WBL Portal.

Once the training plans section opens, students will see any existing training plans that previously been added.

To upload a new file, you will click on on the Choose Files button, then select the file you wish to upload.

Teacher Visits

The next section of the student's WBL Portal is Teacher Visits

In this section, students will be able to view their log of teacher visits to during their WBL experience. This includes the date of the visit, a brief description of the visit and any related documentation.
